Breckenridge, CO. - BRECKENRIDGE— It feels like we skipped spring this year and jumped right into summer. Once the snow started melting, there was no stopping it. The aspen trees budded unnoticed beneath multiple spring snows and suddenly revealed their fresh new leaves. Flowers have appeared all over town and the grass is quickly greening. These hills are alive again! Most of the forest trails have already dried out and the mountain biking has begun. It's pretty common to hear of those who came to Breckenridge for the skiing, and then stayed for the summers. I have to admit, that's how I ended up here. There's no place I'd rather be at this time of year!
Winter has always been our busiest season with the population increasing substantially from approximately 3,500 local residents to more than 36,000 locals and visitors during the peak months. Our summers have been growing in popularity over the years to the point where town seems to be consistently busy year round with only small slowdowns in spring and in fall. I've been surprised to see so many people in town this year during "mud" season. We've all been watching the news, reading the reports and tightening our belts. What you may not know is that Breckenridge is still busy and is still growing.
Historically, July, August and September have been the busiest months for real estate sales. Though the first half of 2008 is down from the first half of 2007 in sales and in volume, we are still seeing appreciation. There are more high end properties selling than ever before and everywhere I look, there is new construction going up. The months ahead will determine what kind of year our real estate market is going to have. So far things are looking better than the average. There are a lot of homes on the market to choose from which indicates a move towards a buyer's market, but I personally have quite a few buyers already planning to look at homes for purchase while visiting in the months ahead.
If you know of someone who's looking to sell their Summit County Real Estate, or someone who's looking to invest, give them my web address! I'm always eager to take on new business. If ever you have any questions or concerns about Real Estate, give me a call or email me. I am here to help with all of your Real Estate needs.
